This is the second Black & Decker Complete Guide that I’ve used to good effect in my battle to overcome being born and raised as the quintessential not handy guy while tending to as much of the care and feeding of our 1930s-era home as I can.
I”m not there yet.
But it certainly isn’t the fault of this fine guide, which majors on visuals. The look-here’s-what-you’ll-find-under-your-sink-and-we’ll-tell-you-about-it-in-a-minute approach pretty much hits the nail on the head. In my case I was unable to fix a water heater and sink trap completely by myself. But I was able to get up to speed on the problem, understand the parts that would be required, and how to minimize the plumber’s time when I eventually had to call him for help.
The book deals with how to plan your plumbing project, the tools and materials you’ll need, new installations, replacing old plumbing, and repairing existing plumbing. It’ll take you to your bathroom, your kitchen, your faucets, your toilets, and a raft of other places where after flows the way it’s supposed to and/or the way it’s not.
Highly recommended.
