In the mid-1990s in Great Britain I purchased a Linguaphone French language learning package and, as a result, received this marvelous booklet and Karajan/Berliner Philharmoniker/Deutsche Grammophon/Michel Schwalbé recording of Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, Concerto ‘L’Amoroso’, Symphony ‘Al Santo Sepolcro’, and Concerto ‘Alla Rustica’.
Apart from a lone seller with a copy listed on Amazon, I have not been able to locate any sign that this recording—which plays on my sound system as I write this—actually exists.
‘More’s the pity, since the CD comes with a fabulous 40-page booklet that walks the listener step-by-step through every change in the cadence of these amazing Baroque works. The package would be perfect for beginners in classical music enrolled in a music appreciation course.
From time to time, precious gems and artifacts become lost in the soil. Call in the archaeologists!
hello david
your book is part of aseries of cd-books which were sold/published worldwide under licence by diverse bookclubs( in Germany it was Bertelsmann Buch Club).. I have a Spanish company: Club international del libro.
Tje books were sold end of the ninties. I myself have accomplished over 40 different cds/books. Unfortunately they ar not available any longer.
In Germany B&S Verlags GmbH, Stuttgart and in Austria Buchgemeinschaft Donauland Kremayr & Scheria, Wien seem to be the owners of the copyrights.
Best greetings from Germany
Thomas
Lieber Thomas,
Many thanks for your new information on this series. ‘Much appreciated.
David
Has anyone found a source of more of these CDs from Linguaphone/PolyGram? ( I mean La Gran Musica Classical Collection)
rudy
Rudy,
So far I have not found a source.
David
I have found, not often but sometimes, CD-books of that collection (by the way, originally a spanish collection) auctioned at ebay.de. This week, for example, you can find at least three sellers for such CD-books. I hope that help you find what you want.
Kind Regards,
Oscar.
