When Hewlett Packard introduced the ‘XL’ version of its Inkjet printer cartridges, I was skeptical. If it’s that easy to fit three times the ink into a cartridge designed for my printer’s unforgiving cartridge socket for roughly twice the price of the standard size, why did HP start out with the smaller size in the first place?
Truth be told, the question still lingers.
But I hardly think about it anymore as I cut down on shipping costs for cartridge renewals and enjoy the advantage side of the price differential between the two approaches. The ink is the same high quality (experience has convinced me to go with the HP brand cartridges rather than third-party competitors) you know form the standard HP 74.
The only reason not to move to the XL would be cash flow issues if you’re limping from cartridge to cartridge. Excluding that, get the XL.
