This year I initiated an HSA with a high deductible insurance policy and an FSA. I threw myself into this particular lunacy on the grounds of liking the idea of people taking responsibilty for something that costs society (you ‘n me) as much as medical care does. I’m still glad I did, but man does it get complex!
As I write this review, I’ve just spent several hours with some cool music and a glass of something red in order to get my family’s pending medical expenses booked into this software program. I’m a happy early adaptor, if it’s not already too late to call myself that.
The Medical Expenses Manager helps me line my expenses up and track theme easily through the process of provider billing, insurance recalculation, insurance payment to provider, assignment of balance to my deductible, payment of balance out of my HSA to the provider, and even submission of deductibles to my new HSA.
I’m not sure how anyone invented a health care system that works this way. But I’ve lived around the world and seen much worse. I’ll take this one, especially with the help of this new tool. It relieves me of the need to carry this multiple-pronged process around in my head.
Other Amazon.com reviewers have not been happy with the product. ‘Can’t say I understand why. Intuit will stick with it and make it better. As a long-time Quicken user, I feel confident about that.
Meanwhile and two glasses of New Zealand Pinot Noir later, I’m much farther ahead than I was three hours ago. Not a bad start.
