Let’s get one thing straight. I know nothing about cosmetics and – except for one forgettable episode at a Halloween party – have never used them.
But my wife does.
Earlier this evening, she deigned to speak. This is what she said:
‘I’ve used Mary Kay products since college (Editor: this was cruel decades ago, but she’s still a pretty hot babe.). I save hundred of dollars by doing so, because I can try on products before I purchase them. If for some reason I don’t like what I buy (a rare event!), I can return the item with no questions asked.
Even better, I save the cost of gas and time because my Mary Kay representative comes to my home on a schedule I negotiate with her. You develop a personal relationship with this person.
By means of her visits, I can see the latest and greatest that’s on offer without leaving my home. I also get free samples that I find very useful to take with me when I travel. Mary Kay is constantly introducing new products and improving existing ones, which is great.
Mary Kay does not aim at the same high-end price point as Le Mer, but the value is certainly there.
Among my friends, Mary Kay’s skin care products are rumored to fend off the Grim Reaper more effectively than competing products.
And for the record, I have never been tempted to purchase a pink Cadillac.’
