This outrageously corny 2000 flick manages to provide good laughs and some adrenaline, thanks to the on-field hits and the stormin’ music.
Gene Hackman could play his coach’s role in his sleep, and sometimes seems to have done precisely that. Keanu Reeves is Everyman’s comeback quarterback who gets the girl (gorgeous Brooke Langton).
The rest of the strike-replacement players are hilarious.
This film lasts mostly because of some preternaturally memorable lines, among them Reeves’ last-minute huddle speech: ‘Pain heals. Chicks love scars. Glory lasts forever.’
Indeed.
