Under normal circumstances, rewarding a 5-star rating to a diet food is a sign of emotional imbalance or the pressing need to get out more.
But not this time.
I like the South Beach diet system for its intelligent approach to those of us who use it and it’s reliably packaged no-think, ready-made system.
But I love the meal replacement bars, both the chocolate peanut butter and the chocolate crisp flavors. I’m not enthusiastic about the third flavor. These things are just really, really good. It’s hard to imagine the neighborhood housing any transfat or sugar globule that could taste any better.
Don’t confuse the meal replacement bars with the smaller South Beach snack bars. The meal replacement bars are larger and harder to find. I’ve now fallen to mail-ordering them to save the parking and hunt-and-peck search every time my stash runs out.
The meal replacement bar, in terms of eating pleasure, is the high point of the South Beach system.
